The association “I Want to Help Refugees” provides various types of support to beneficiaries of international aid in Latvia. We are looking for more people to make this work even better!
Border monitoring expert
Your responsibilities will include:
-Working with asylum seekers and beneficiaries of international protection , mostly in Latgale, to identify the risks they face and to promote their capacity to protect their rights, especially in detention centres.
– Monitoring border crossing practices.
– Organising volunteer support in cooperation with colleagues.
– Cooperation with state and local authorities, NGOs and the private sector involved in providing support to asylum seekers and beneficiaries of international assistance.
– Regular communication with project funders, preparation of reports and monitoring reports.
We wish you had:
– Motivation and interest to get involved in the goals of the association “I Want to Help Refugees” and the ability to take initiative, most importantly – the desire and interest to work with beneficiaries of international protection, as well as a genuine desire to understand their living conditions.
– Master’s degree in social sciences or humanities.
– Experience of working with asylum seekers, beneficiaries of international protection.
– Understanding of asylum policy and legal frameworks in Latvia and internationally.
– Analytical thinking, ability to argue and justify, high sense of responsibility, punctuality, excellent communication skills, incl. intercultural communication skills
– Good command of English – spoken and written – and Russian – spoken (ability to advise people in these languages), and very good knowledge of Latvian. Knowledge of Arabic would be an advantage.
– Category B driving licence. Car preferred.
