The aim of the project “Latvia and Ukraine: Unity in Diversity” is to promote the cultural and socio-economic integration of Ukrainian civilians into Latvian society by organizing cultural orientation courses and various inclusion activities. The project seeks to foster mutual understanding and solidarity between Latvians and Ukrainians, while also developing participants’ skills for long-term independent integration into Latvian society.
The planned activities are focused on the integration of different groups of Latvian and Ukrainian civilians and facilitating mutual cultural exchange. For example, some activities are specifically designed for Ukrainian seniors, taking into account their vulnerability and risk of social isolation, often accompanied by a lack of integration tools and skills. Meanwhile, to give Ukrainian children the opportunity to meet and connect with Latvian children, a drawing competition will be organized, aiming to foster mutual understanding and friendship between Ukrainian and Latvian children. The exhibition of the drawings will also reach a wider audience, accessible to all residents of Latvia.
This and other activities, such as a mini cultural festival, will serve as sources of inspiration and channels for spreading positive messages, which are especially important in the current global political climate, particularly for Ukrainian civilians and their children who are staying in Latvia long-term. Some events are aimed at the socio-economic integration of working-age Ukrainian civilians, which is a necessary step for achieving long-term integration.
The project also aims to continue providing informative support to Ukrainian civilians in Latvia, offering individual consultations and compiling resources on support and services provided by state, municipal, and non-governmental organizations.
Throughout the project, verified and critically evaluated information will be made accessible and disseminated during activities, as well as remotely.
The project will be implemented from July to December 2025.
The total project funding is EUR 64,986.80.
The project is financially supported by the Society Integration Fund from the allocated Latvian state budget. #KulturaLVUKR2025
