With the support of the UNHCR, we are implementing a project aimed at promoting the protection of international protection recipients in Latvia. The project includes six interrelated activities:

  1. Protection monitoring with the goal of collecting quantitative and qualitative data on the situation of Ukrainian refugees in Latvia, as well as monitoring the border and reception of asylum seekers, to support responsible authorities in improving border management and implementing safe, accessible, and transparent border crossing procedures;
  2. Advocacy to improve the accessibility and quality of services for international protection recipients, including refugee children, particularly those arriving in Latvia unaccompanied; with a special focus on partnership and coordination with NGOs and other stakeholders, promoting a systemic approach to reception and integration in Latvia;
  3. Individual integration support, providing social mentor services to international protection recipients returning to Latvia after secondary relocation and/or after the expiration of state-funded support mechanisms, if assistance is still needed;
  4. Integration of international protection recipients into the host community, supporting refugee community activists, volunteers, NGOs, especially Ukrainian refugee organizations, promoting mutual support;
  5. Providing information at the NGO information point, promoting integration;
  6. Communication activities to raise public awareness about the integration processes of international protection recipients and to highlight successful refugee experience stories.

The project is implemented from January 2025 to December 2025.

The total project funding is EUR 226,402.80.
