
Report “Beaten Back at Europe’s Borders. 2025 Annual Report on Pushbacks”
In February, the report “Beaten Back at Europe’s Borders. 2025 Annual Report on Pushbacks” was published, which was produced under the leadership of the Belgian NGO 11.11.11, in cooperation with other non-governmental organizations, including “I Want to Help Refugees”.
The report summarizes information on more than 80,000 pushback cases, providing a more detailed insight into the trends in the pushback policies of Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Finland, Hungary, Croatia, Romania, Bulgaria, Greece, Cyprus, Italy, Spain, and France fromlast year.
The report indicates that, in 2025, 12,046 people were ‘prevented from illegally crossing’ Latvia’s state border. Based on the information available to GPB, between June 2024 and December 2025, two people died in the border region after crossing the Latvian-Belarusian border and were buried in Latvia, bringing the total number of deaths since 2023 to 11.
