“I Want to Help Refugees” community garden
The project aims to promote the cooperation of various groups of residents of the city of Riga, including recipients of international protection, through joint, practical activities for the development of the community. Residents of Riga and activists who want to help promote both the cleaning of the neighborhood and the integration of beneficiaries of international protection into the local community through the implementation of various events can participate in the creation of a community garden.
The community garden will provide an opportunity to engage in a meaningful dialogue and learn from each other, breaking down barriers and stereotypes that may exist between different groups. At the same time, the garden will allow the development of community and realizing one’s cultural identity as well as one’s cultural habits. It is equally important for both newcomers (including Ukrainian civilians and asylum seekers) and residents of Riga.
The project is co-financed by the Riga City Community Integration Program and the UN Refugee Agency.
The project runs from May 2024 to September 2024.
The total funding of the project is EUR 5875.00
