Informational support and community integration activities for Ukrainian civilians in Latvia

Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine on 24.02.22, the association “I Want to Help Refugees” has been providing multifaceted support to Ukrainian refugees in Latvia, providing both informational and practical support. The regular exchange of information with other NGOs, state institutions, municipalities and businesses has allowed to create various informational resources to support refugees from Ukraine in Latvia and to promote a well-organised and comprehensive cooperation and public engagement. 

This project aims to continue to provide and coordinate efforts to support Ukrainian civilians in Latvia, contributing to the cultural and socio-economic integration of Ukrainian civilians. “I Want to Help Refugees” will continue to maintain resources that provide accurate information on the support and services offered by the state, local authorities and NGOs to the Ukrainian civilians in Latvia, as well as to facilitate access to this information and to ensure its wider distribution (e.g. NGO Information Centre in Riga and with informational campaigns). We will also continue our cooperation with other NGOs working directly with local communities to facilitate the integration of Ukrainian civilians into Latvian society. We will organise camps for community leaders to promote intercultural dialogue and exchange of experience. 

Additionally, we will develop a handbook as a tool to facilitate a sustainable cultural and socio-economic integration of Ukrainian civilians in Latvia. It will be a useful resource on local and European values for Ukrainian civilians and the leaders of the Ukrainian community in Latvia.

Project period: January 2024 – June 2024.

Project funding: EUR 93 374,00.  The project is funded by the European Union’s Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund.
