The aim of the project “GPB NGO Info Point Customer Service at ‘Ukrainian House in Latvia’” is to promote the integration of Ukrainian civilians into Latvian society by providing accessible and continuous informational, advisory, and practical support. The project specifically targets vulnerable groups, such as seniors and individuals with minimal digital skills, and – importantly – adapts to changes in the assistance system.

“Latvia and Ukraine: Unity in Diversity”: Cultural Orientation Courses and Inclusion Activities for Ukrainian Civilians (2025)

The aim of the project “Latvia and Ukraine: Unity in Diversity” is to promote the cultural and socio-economic integration of Ukrainian civilians into Latvian society by organizing cultural orientation courses and various inclusion activities. The project seeks to foster mutual understanding and solidarity between Latvians and Ukrainians, while also developing participants’ skills for long-term independent integration into Latvian society.

Support for the Integration of Ukrainian Children in Latvian Educational Institutions and Development of Latvian Language Skills for Adults

The project has two main goals: (1) To provide parents, grandparents, and guardians of Ukrainian children studying in Riga educational institutions with opportunities to learn and practice the Latvian language in informal settings (such as classes and events). This initiative aims to promote their inclusion in the local society and labor market while supporting their ability to help their children integrate better into the learning environment. Alongside activities for parents, informal activities for children are also planned.

Sustainable Integration: Activities for a More Inclusive Society

The aim of the project is to facilitate the exchange of experiences between partner organizations from Latvia, Estonia, and Sweden. Throughout the project, these organizations will share their insights and ideas on working with asylum seekers, refugees, and recipients of alternative status, promoting their integration into local communities.

Cultural orientation courses and integration events for Ukrainian civilians in Latvia

The project aims to promote the cultural and socio-economic integration of Ukrainian civilians into Latvian society by providing cultural orientation courses and various integration measures. The activities offered in the project will give Ukrainian civilians versatile opportunities to get to know the local community, acquire knowledge about Latvia’s history, culture, and values, understand state administration and the importance of the rule of law, familiarize themselves with the Constitution, as well as acquire knowledge about starting a business in Latvia, participating in the activities of local communities, promoting collaboration, etc. During the project, the “Live in Latvia” associations manual which was published in June 2024 in Latvian and Ukrainian languages, will be used.

“I Want to Help Refugees” community garden

The project aims to promote the cooperation of various groups of residents of the city of Riga, including recipients of international protection, through joint, practical activities for the development of the community. Residents of Riga and activists who want to help promote both the cleaning of the neighborhood and the integration of beneficiaries of international protection into the local community through the implementation of various events can participate in the creation of a community garden.

Informational support and community integration activities for Ukrainian civilians in Latvia

Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine on 24.02.22, the association “I Want to Help Refugees” has been providing multifaceted support to Ukrainian refugees in Latvia, providing both informational and practical support. The regular exchange of information with other NGOs, state institutions, municipalities and businesses has allowed to create various informational resources to support refugees from Ukraine in Latvia and to promote a well-organised and comprehensive cooperation and public engagement.
